Privacy Policy for Make Ahead

Make Ahead is a meal-planning app. This Privacy Policy explains how the app handles information when you use it.

Summary

Make Ahead does not use advertising, analytics, or tracking SDKs. It does not sell your information. The app works without an account, and most data stays on your device. Google Drive sync is optional and only occurs if you choose to connect a Google account.

Information You Create in the App

The app stores the information you enter or generate for meal planning, including:

• meal names, meal tags, ingredients, meal pairings, and custom cuisines;
• country and cuisine preferences;
• saved weekly meal plans.

This information is stored locally on your device in Android app storage. Unavailable-ingredient selections are used for the current planning session. The app developer does not receive this information.

Optional Google Drive Sync

You may choose to connect a Google account and enable Google Drive sync. This is optional; an account is not required to use the app.

If you connect Google Drive, the app:

• requests your Google account email address to identify the connected account and stores that address locally on your device;
• accesses only the Google Drive appDataFolder scope, which is private application data and is not visible as a regular file in your Drive;
• uploads and downloads a backup containing the meal-planning information listed above; and
• stores sync metadata locally, such as the backup file identifier and sync timestamps.

The backup is sent directly between the app and Google Drive using your Google account. The developer does not operate a separate server for this sync feature or receive a copy of the backup. Google's handling of data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.

Disconnecting Google Drive signs the app out and removes the locally stored connection and sync metadata. It does not automatically delete an existing backup from your Google Drive app data. You can manage or delete app data through your Google Account's Google Drive settings.

Import and Export

When you import or export app data, Android asks you to select the file and location. The app only reads from or writes to the file you select. Exported files may contain the meal-planning information described above. You are responsible for how you store, share, or protect exported files.

Data Sharing

The app does not sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers or data brokers. Information is transmitted to Google only when you enable Google Drive sync, as described above. The app may also access the user-selected file provider needed to complete an import or export you request.

Data Retention and Deletion

Local app data remains on your device until you delete it, clear the app's storage, or uninstall the app. A Google Drive backup remains in your Google account until you delete it or delete the relevant Google Drive app data. Removing local data or disconnecting Drive does not by itself remove a previously uploaded Drive backup.

Security

The app relies on Android's app-storage protections, Android's document picker for selected files, and Google's authenticated Google Drive service for optional sync. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so please avoid entering sensitive information in meal names, tags, or notes.

Children's Privacy

Make Ahead is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the app's data practices change. The effective date at the top will be updated when changes are made.
